13th January 2010 PA Group BSI OHSAS 180001 Certification
PA Group (UK) Ltd, the asbestos services company today announced their pride in receiving certification for OHSAS 18001. Chris Miller-Hanna said “the whole company worked very hard to achieve this very important accreditation “. The certification has been issued by the British Standards Institute. This accreditation is compatible with our 9001 and 14001 accreditations and will help us meet our health and safety obligations in an efficient manner. The asbestos industry is, like the whole construction industry, a dangerous industry. Our clients are not just interested in competitive pricing. They want us to demonstrate that our business is managed in an efficient and responsible way. That we can provide a professional service not hampered by outdated or unsafe working practises”.
The areas addressed by OHAS 18001 include, planning, risk assessment and risk control of hazard identification. Management programmes, structure and responsibility. Training, awareness, competence, consultation and communication. Operational control. Performance measurement, monitoring and improvement.
An OHSMS promotes a safe and healthy working environment by providing a framework that allows the organisation to consistently identify and control its health and safety risks, reduce the potential for accidents, aid legislative compliance and improve overall performance.
PA Group carry out asbestos surveys and asbestos removals throughout the UK. The company also provides asbestos training, asbestos consultancy and asbestos advice. The company believes that this accreditation will add huge benefits to their business given the health, safety and legislative requirements of the asbestos industry.
